Must-Visit Fall Attractions in Powhatan
Spooky season has arrived, and Powhatan, VA has a bunch of fun, seasonal attractions waiting for you to explore! Whether you’re into the scary stuff, have little ones to entertain, or just love a classic, orange pumpkin, Powhatan has something for everyone. Read on to discover what’s waiting for you just 30 miles outside of Richmond.
Located at the Powhatan County Fairgrounds, Total Terror Haunted Attraction has been a staple for Halloween haunts in the Greater Richmond Region for a handful of years. Open Friday and Saturday nights in October, as well as on Halloween itself, this attraction has recently expanded to include two new haunts: Feldgeister (haunted corn maze) and Mouth of Madness (traditional haunt). While you’re waiting for your haunt, make sure to take advantage of the on-site food/drinks, fire pits, outdoor games, merchandise, photo ops, and live entertainment.
Pumpkins in Flatrock – 2600 Anderson Hwy, Powhatan, VA 23139
Each year, The Knights of Columbus Council 9507 sells pumpkins near the Sheetz in Flatrock. Proceeds go to various local charities. Who doesn’t love pumpkins for a good cause? Just remember to bring your own wagon for transport.
Powhatan County Parks and Recreation is hosting a Spooky Trail Walk and Trunk or Treat at Fighting Creek Park this year on Friday, October 11 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Make sure to take advantage of this free, seasonal community programming and come dressed in your best costume!
After you finish your spooky walk and get some candy from the trunk or treat event, continue your evening with Powhatan County Parks and Recreation by attending their Halloween Movie Night at Fighting Creek Park, also on Friday, October 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. This year, they are featuring the lovable classic, “Hocus Pocus.” The movie will begin once the sun goes down.
Powhatan County Economic Development is introducing the new, seasonal concept of an Oktoberfest Craft Beverage Trail this year! Featuring all 3 of the county’s craft beverage makers (Crazy Rooster Brewing, Fine Creek Brewing, and Three Crosses Distilling), Total Terror Haunted Attraction, and local transportation company, Itzy Ritzy Excursions, participants will enjoy a festive evening of great booze and boos in Powhatan. You’ll have the option to purchase tickets for either Friday, October 18 or Friday, October 25 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Drop-off and pick-up will be located at the County Administration Building (3834 Old Buckingham Rd).
Trick-or-Treating in the Village – 3834 Old Buckingham Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139
For the second consecutive year, Powhatan County is hosting trick-or-treating in the village! Your kiddos can start the evening of Halloween (Thursday, October 31) roaming through the halls of the County Administration Building at 4:00p.m. and then make their way through the neighborhoods of Scottville and Erin Hill, as well as visit the businesses located in the Village of Powhatan. Come dressed in your best Halloween costumes and make sure to take photos in front of the “LOVE” sign while you’re there.
